Recipe: Homemade Blackening Seasoning

Using various spices and seasoning blends is a fantastic way to ensure even the healthiest of recipes aren’t lacking in flavor. A solid blackening seasoning is a great option to have on had, as it is super versatile and easy to make. It is great on shrimp, fish, chicken, or other meats, and can also be used on vegetables, grains, and more! I use this blend often when making things like my Super Simple Fish en Papillote and it’s also an easy go to for items on the grill. I like to save my empty glass spice jars and use them to store blends like this. Re-purposing is great for the planet and great for the budget! Speaking of budget… making your own seasoning or spice blends is generally much more cost effective than buying them. And you also get more control over the ingredients and don’t have to worry about unnecessary fillers or preservatives.
