Hot chocolate is one of those warming, seasonal beverages that brings me right back to childhood.And if you know me by now, you know I am all about balance and giving ourselves the ability to enjoy a tasty treat. But, the hot chocolate most of us grew up on (whether homemade or Swiss Miss…) is loaded with excessive amounts of added sugar, and often contain other ingredients that aren’t doing our bodies any favors. However, there’s a way to enjoy your drink and have it support your goals as well! So here’s my go-to recipe for a warm and frothy cup of comfort that you don’t need to feel guilty about!
Hormone Healthy Hot Chocolate
- 10 ounces grass-fed whole milk or full-fat unsweetened coconut milk
- 2 Tbls. raw cacao powder
- 1 serving grass-fed or wild-caught collagen protein powder (such as Vital Proteins)
Heat your milk or coconut milk in a small saucepan until steaming.
Once the liquid is hot, use a small whisk or milk frother to mix in the cacao and collagen.
- Pour into a mug or thermos of your choosing and enjoy!

To give your drink a fun holiday twist, add 1 drop of high quality peppermint essential oil or extract!
