There seem to be two types of people in the world: Those that like crafty coffee drinks and those that like their coffee black. Occasionally I meet someone who, like me, can appreciate both depending on the day or mood they are in.
Now I’m not saying I don’t ever order a fun coffee drink off a coffee house menu. I do. But it’s not a regular habit of mine, because well, have you ever looked at the ingredients used in all those flavored syrups? Let’s just say… yea… not good. Also, most coffee houses are pouring conventionally raised dairy products or if they offer alternatives like almond or coconut milk, they usually contain sweeteners, stabilizers, carrageenan, and other less than lovely additives.
So, my preference is definitely to make my own at home. This way, even if I do choose something a bit fancier than black coffee, I can have my fun without all the junk. Even using all organic ingredients, these easy to make at home options cost pennies on the dollar, where as specialty coffee shops are charging $3.50-$5 per beverage. Cheers to clean, delicious drinks!
